In Matthew 16:18, Jesus proclaims “I will build My Church.” The Church belongs to Jesus. We are His people. The Church is not a building. The Church is men, women, boys, and girls of all races and tribes who profess Jesus as Savior and Lord. Every single day the Church gathers in all types of spaces, locations, homes, and buildings.
For the last 2+ years, City Church has gathered in a movie theater in the back of a mall. But now God has orchestrated the opportunity for City Church to move into its own permanent space. We are transitioning into the old 9th St United Methodist Church on 6th Ave in Decatur. It is a historic building with a deep and rich legacy. And God has provided us the opportunity to continue in this permanent space what Jesus started 2000 years ago.
We are an ancient-future community of Jesus followers bringing the historic message of our faith into a current culture. Our goal is to preserve many of the historic elements of this beautiful building while also bringing a fresh and more modern feel to it. We believe this building provides us a platform to fulfill our mission – to continue what Jesus began. It allows us to be in our city and for our city, to live out grace as a way of life, and to live in community as a family of Jesus followers.
We want to provide you the opportunity to invest in the transformation of this permanent space. We need new flooring, chairs, paint, supplies, and other relevant needs that will allow us to update this historic space while preserving its legacy. We plan to move into the building by the end of November so would you consider prayerfully investing in this opportunity?
Whether you call City Church your home or not, we are asking you to invest eternally in this unique opportunity. All donations are tax-deductible and will be utilized 100% for the building needs.
Thank you in advance for your investment in helping City Church proclaim Jesus loudly.
